The first image that comes to mind when we hear the phrase
"artificial intelligence (AI)" is a strange plot device that is
frequently used in science fiction books and films. The idea of algorithms and learning
technologies, which serve as the basis for automation and much more, are
central to AI when it comes to the eCommerce sector. Today's online retailers
can give a superior user and customer experience in eCommerce and make wise
business decisions using consumer data thanks to AI. In this post, we've
discussed some useful yet effective ways eCommerce companies employ AI to
enhance the online purchasing experience.[1]
To compete with other retail
enterprises, it is essential for a business to have an eCommerce platform. You
won't be increasing your revenue if your internet store can't sell products
online. Also, since the pandemic, eCommerce firms have grown significantly. We
now live in a time when social media, technology, and the internet are more accessible
than ever thanks to the innovative and transformative application of
technology. All of these factors have led to the adoption of the internet
market by many flourishing companies, who are now looking for ways to increase
sales through it. AI is progressively present in the business world as even
more brick and mortar companies attempt to compete in the eCommerce market. It
also strengthens the engagement with the customers. AI-related inventions can be broadly
categorized into two types: those that involve the use of AI algorithms or
techniques to solve a specific problem or achieve a specific task, and those
that involve the creation of new and useful AI-based products or systems.
Artificial intelligence is a
technical field that, by duplicating and extending human intelligence, can
achieve the automatic functioning of mental processes. Artificial intelligence
technology bases its creation of intelligent machines with capabilities like to
those of humans on intelligent technology. Robots, voice assistants, picture
recognition, and other technologies are being developed that can respond
immediately to control commands. Computer psychology, biology, linguistics,
medicine, and other fields have a tight relationship with AI technology.
Artificial intelligence is now used in a wider range of applications thanks to
advances in modern social science and technology, and mechanical products now
possess a greater level of intelligence that can carry out directions from
humans. The advancement of computer technology and artificial intelligence is
strongly tied to one another.[2]
The role played by Artificial
intelligence in E- commerce:-
1.Virtual assistants (VAs) for
e-commerce employ machine learning and language processing to comprehend
consumer inquiries and provide the appropriate support. We've heard about this
before. We are all familiar with Google Assistant, Alexa from Amazon, and Siri
from Apple. The 24/7 availability and easy query handling of virtual assistants
make them a top choice for eCommerce enterprises.[3]
Additionally, this enhances a company's potential to scale. Virtual assistants
are capable of carrying out a variety of duties, including inventory
management, listing, and product research. VAs provide clients with rapid,
simple access to information and help. An artificial intelligence assistant (VAs) whose main job is
to use a natural language processing system to automatically answer to consumer
enquiries, carry out simple voice instructions, and recommend products The
foundation of chat conversations on mobile and e-commerce websites is
Customer-specific machine learning algorithms for communicating with customers.
They can assist customers in finding the right products, checking the
availability of products, comparing different products, and ultimately
assisting customers with payment. The chatbot can also assist users in getting
in touch with the appropriate customer support representatives if they have any
complaints or inquiries.
2. A full recommendation system built on a machine
learning algorithm foundation is a recommendation engine. Deep learning,
statistical programming, consumer behaviour prediction and analysis, analysis
of enormous data sets, and the prediction of which products are most likely to
draw buyers are all made possible by AI algorithms. The recommendation engine's
machine learning algorithm is able to record key details of the searched
product based on recent searches by potential customers. Based on the calculation
results, the recommendation engine then generates appropriate Suggestions for
the browser and lists them on a personal page, ultimately assisting customers
in finding the product quickly. The use of dimensionality reduction algorithms
allows for the artificial intelligence-based recommendation system to change.
The most significant shift brought about by artificial intelligence in the
recommendation system is that it is now seen as the entire pattern of
human-computer interaction rather than just a collection of recommendations. By
adding the time dimension, the dynamic aspect of the system and the user may be
achieved. The target market for many e-commerce businesses' products is
determined by using recommendation engines, including those used by Amazon, etc.
3. In the eCommerce sector, personalization involves
modifying the buying experience to take into account the needs, wants,
preferences, and tastes of each individual customer. For instance, they can
launch an automatic customized email campaign, display recently visited
products, or generate a list of customised products. It may also be translated
as a tactic for enhancing the online shopping experience for customers by
dynamically or actively displaying content, such as advertisements for items,
companies, or campaigns. Depending on their click-through rate, browsing
habits, past purchases, etc. Prior to the adoption of AI, personalization was a
feature of the eCommerce sector. But, now, Computers can now process large
amounts of data, enabling optimization and real-time analytics. eCommerce
stores routinely see a huge number of customers and hundreds of thousands of
products. On-the-spot
data analysis using software or an algorithm can immediately uncover patterns
in client behaviour. eCommerce companies can take advantage of clients'
tendency for impulse purchases by providing customised product recommendations.
By recommending various products to customers at the checkout based on their
chosen brands and categories, you can cross-sell or upsell products as well.
4. Maintaining the proper quantity of inventory that can
meet market demand without adding to idle stock is the key to effective
inventory management. While traditional inventory management was limited to
current stock levels, AI-enabled inventory management allows for the
maintenance of stocks based on information related to Sales trends over the
previous years, Projected or anticipated changes in product demands, and
Potential Supply-Related Issues that may Have an Impact on Inventory Levels.[4]
With the advent of automated robots, which are seen as the future of artificial
intelligence in Ecommerce, AI is enabling warehouse management in addition to
inventory management. AI robots, as opposed to human labour, can be utilised to
store or retrieve inventory around-the-clock and to ship ordered items right
away after receiving an online order. AI in the B2B Ecommerce sector is
creating a number of creative solutions in addition to drastically changing the
E-commerce industry.
5. An eCommerce company can determine each customer's
behavioural pattern using AI computer vision by analysing sales data and the
most popular products that are seen or bought. Later, you can utilise this
information to entice them back to your eCommerce website. Here, push
notifications are the most effective remarketing tactic. There is little chance
that clients will become irritated by these messages because they are brief and
basic. Personalized push alerts that enable direct connection are another tool
available to eCommerce businesses. Businesses employ AI in their remarketing
strategies as a practice and affordable tactic. Remarketing puts your company
at the top of the customer's list of priorities.
6. AI is also being used to identify
and prevent fraudulent activity on e-commerce sites. AI algorithms can analyze
data on customer behaviour and transactions to identify suspicious activity and
prevent fraud. This can help companies save on costs and improve security.
Hence, AI is continuously changing
the eCommerce sector. It now affects how an eCommerce store presents and offers
products to clients. AI is enhancing the online shopping experience for both
customers and businesses by providing a highly personalised purchasing
experience with the aid of virtual buying assistants. In order to interact,
segment, and retarget their customers, eCommerce companies can use the
technology's advanced methods to analyse huge data and discover client
behaviour. The success of an online business is largely dependent on its ability
to deliver a highly tailored client experience. Artificial intelligence (AI)
programmes may recognise and analyse customer data to estimate future spending
trends and provide product suggestions based on the consumers' browsing habits.
Artificial intelligence isn't only a cutting-edge technology used for showcase.
AI implementation has the potential to have an impact on a wide range of
organisational business operations. The development of AI technology over the
previous few years has made it a potent tool for increasing sales and
streamlining business processes. Even a large number of tiny e-commerce
companies are utilising AI-capable technologies.
The e-commerce ecosystem has grown
exponentially, and even in times of global pandemics and nationwide lockdowns,
the e-commerce ecosystem has continued to evolve and adapt. In India, the
e-commerce ecosystem has become an important factor in the Indian economy and
Indian digital users in a relatively short period of time. The market is
currently dominated by Amazon India, followed by Flipkart (Walmart-Flipkart)
and the recent launch of his JioMart. H. Data-driven ecosystem.
