The constitutionality of Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sedition law in India has been the subject of intense legal and public debate. The purpose of this paper is to critically examine the Supreme Court of India's sedition rulings from 2023. During the British colonial rule, sedition was established, making any speech or action that incites hatred, contempt, or disaffection towards the government illegal.
